In recent years, over £80 million has been invested into campus development at the University of Huddersfield, ensuring students have access to some of the finest facilities in the country. The latest addition to this impressive portfolio is the Barbara Hepworth Building — home to the School of Arts and Humanities. Named in honour of the renowned West Yorkshire-born sculptor, the building stands proudly with its main frontage overlooking the scenic Huddersfield Narrow Canal at the heart of the campus. LDL Lighting was proud to support this landmark project by supplying high-performance exterior LED lighting.
LDL Lighting’s senior lighting designer developed a carefully considered arrangement that delivered 30 lux illumination at the face of the elevation, achieving a uniformity of no less than 0.65. This precise and thoughtful design enhances both the architectural features and the surrounding environment. Our solutions were designed to subtly enhance the architectural features of the building while improving safety and visibility around its perimeter. With a focus on energy efficiency and durability, the lighting complements both the artistic spirit and functional needs of this inspirational space, ensuring it remains a standout feature day and night.
Projects like these truly set us apart in the industry — thanks to the expertise and creativity of our in-house design team, who consistently deliver tailored lighting solutions that balance performance, aesthetics, and efficiency.
