AJ Architects have been recognised with the School Project of the Year award for their remarkable transformation of WaterSHED, located at Wardle Academy. This project successfully converted an outdated school sports hall into a vibrant, sustainable social teaching and learning centre.
The design of WaterSHED prioritises sustainability, employing low-tech, low-carbon construction methods to create flexible teaching spaces. This aligns perfectly with LDL Lighting’s commitment to sustainable solutions. To bring this vision to life, a diverse range of LDL Lighting luminaires were carefully chosen for the project.
Notably, the stunning Noma luminaire—a circular pendant light—was selected for its elegant design, ideal for installation on both ceilings and walls. In addition, a variety of surface-mounted bulkheads, including the LDB, ZMP and Lola, were incorporated into the design. Other luminaires featured in the space include the Hemera Square, Henry downlighters, surface-mounted Dominique’s, WPZ, Banda, and Exit Signage, all contributing to the functional yet aesthetically pleasing atmosphere of this innovative educational space.
